If you drove by this lovely home, would you guess that a fabulous studio is hidden inside? Many studios are actually built right into homes. This is the studio where a big step would take place… the final vocal recordings!
I get to step into this ultra-cool room to sing my heart out. This room is completely soundproofed and separate from the rest of the studio. On the first day, we did a little microphone show down. I sang the same simple phrase into three microphones and my producer, Aaron, and the studio owner, Marko G, listened with their expert ears to hear the best one. Turns out sound best on a Korby, the favorite mic of Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson. I can live with that.
This is where Aaron gets to sit and manage everything. He speaks to me through my headphones and is a great vocal coach. It takes about 2 hours to record one song, no joke. We record every section several times until I am really in the groove and get some great takes. Then I sing it some more, with some variation. Aaron catches it all so that we make sure we have all the best sounds. It has been such a fun and tiring process!
